Practical Experience Through Internships

One hundred percent of undergraduate Barney students complete an internship to ensure they develop practical skills in their area of interest. All bachelor's degree programs at the Barney School require at least one internship – with the opportunity to pursue additional internships.

Your professors and the Office of Career and Professional Development will help you to apply for your internship. Students have interned at companies like Aetna, Bank of America, Deloitte, Mass Mutual Financial Group, and Travelers Insurance. As well as gaining important practical skills, internships act as a great networking opportunity to meet possible future employers.

You are able to join the Barney School of Business as an international student thanks to our International Pathway Program. Undergraduate students can study our International Year, while graduate students can choose the Master’s International Year. You may also apply for direct entry to your chosen program through our Direct Admission option.

Highlighted Progression Degrees

The Accounting Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) program prepares students for entry-level positions in public accounting, management accounting, and financial management. You will learn the basics of accounting theory and practice, as well as how it connects to other fields in business.

You will graduate with the knowledge needed for your first accounting job, and ready for the Certified Public Accountant and Certified Management Accountant examinations.

MBAs are popular and competitive degrees which can give you a head start in your career. The MBA at Hartford consists of 12 courses (36 credits): nine required courses and 3 courses in a chosen concentration. Possible concentrations include:
