The University of Hartford International Pathway Program

Your International Pathway to Undergraduate and Graduate Study at a US University

The International Pathway Program (IPP) is your route to a degree from the highly ranked University of Hartford. With our program, you will develop the skills to progress to the undergraduate or Master’s degree of your choice – and graduate on time. We provide you with the best possible start to your degree program, ensuring that you go on to find academic, social and personal success as a college student in the US.

The IPP is open to students who have proven their academic ability but need to strengthen their English skills to achieve positive results in the collegiate environment. You will learn about the subjects you love, while being able to dedicate time to developing your English. You can choose between our International Year for undergraduate students, and our Master’s International Year for graduate students – so you can continue on to your dream degree at the University of Hartford.

Pathway Program Options

Whether you study the International Year or Master's International Year, you can choose between the following study options:

  • Standard 2-Semester Pathway
  • Extended 3-Semester Pathway
  • Extended Plus 4-Semester Pathway

Each semester you will take a combination of university academic courses (credited) and English courses (non-credited). Course options are dependent upon the required pathway. Once you have reached the required English level you can progress onto your program at the University of Hartford.

English for University Studies

You also have the option to join the University as a Direct Admit student. If you do not currently meet the English language requirements for your Direct Admit program, you can improve your level with our English for University Studies program – delivered online through the Virtual Study Center.

Depending on your current level of English, you can choose between our 8 and 12-week programs. The program is designed to develop your English skills as you adjust to the demands, challenges, and expectations of higher education in the U.S. 50% of your learning hours will be delivered through real-time lessons – with the remaining 50% accessible through pre-recorded lectures and interactive quizzes, group projects, presentations, writing practices, and more.

You can find out more about help joining your degree at the University of Hartford as a Direct Admit student through our English for University Studies program on our fees and entry requirements pages.
