Welcome to the Spring 2022 Intake

You've Been Admitted – What Comes Next?

Congratulations on your place at the University of Hartford. There are a few things you can do to get the best possible start to your studies when you join us this year.

Orientation

Orientation is a great way to get to know UHart before starting your studies. Check your email for important orientation information. The IPP also posts Orientation and Post-Arrival information on Blackboard that you can access at any time.

Orientation provides an opportunity to learn more about University of Hartford facilities, resources and experience what makes West Hartford and the University unique. The first few days of orientation will include fun and interactive workshops, presentations and activities to start your success at Hartford.

Register For Your Courses

Your first semester courses will be scheduled for you. Ideally, you will know your class schedule at least 2 weeks prior to the start of school. Once you are in the pathway program, you will meet with the IPP Center Director to choose courses for the following semester.

English Proficiency Testing

You will be required to take an English placement exam through the University’s English Language Institute (ELI). The English exam can be completed online and is typically scheduled prior to the start of school. Exact date to be determined.

Important Information For Joining Us Online

  • What If I'm Studying Online?

We look forward to welcoming you to campus this year. If you are unable to join us on campus, you may still be able to begin your program virtually from home.* Whether you’re joining us on campus or online, you will still receive the high standard of a UHart education.

Even if you're studying online, your courses will consist of high-quality interactive sessions. Some examples of interactive sessions may include:

    • Participating in a live discussion online
    • Watching an online presentation and adding your own video comments or questions
    • Commenting on a discussion board on your own time
    • Viewing a lecture and participating in a Zoom meeting with your professor to answer questions

You will be able to access live and recorded sessions, and you will be informed of any required live interactive sessions well in advance so that you can plan ahead. Recorded sessions can be accessed at any time based on your own schedule.

Some interactive sessions may be scheduled to allow you to interact with instructors and other students. When working on group presentations, you will have the flexibility to find a time which is convenient for everyone in the group.

You will be expected to be an active participant in the virtual classroom, to be engaged in the program on a Monday through Friday basis, and to meet the assignment deadlines.

  • How Will I Connect with My Professors?

All UHart students enjoy a one-on-one relationship with their professors – including those in the International Pathway Program. By studying with us, you will benefit from:

    • Email response from instructors within 24-48 hours Monday to Friday
    • Online access to skills assistance, academic coaching, and social engagement opportunities
    • Online or In-Person – 1:1 support with an instructor
    • Peer support – Interaction with other students from across the globe
    • The Center for Student Success - Tutoring for content-based academic areas
    • Harrison Libraries – Resources available including ebooks, reference materials, and databases
    • Career Studio - Career preparation resources, mock interviews, and more
